25 Easy Print and Cut Ideas for Beginners

You finally figured out how Cricut Print Then Cut works.
Now comes the fun question:
What can I actually make with it?
So. Many. Things.
Print Then Cut is one of my favorite ways to use a Cricut because you can take colorful digital artwork, print it at home and let your Cricut cut everything out for you.
No complicated layering required.
If you're looking for easy Print and Cut ideas, I've put together 25 beginner-friendly projects you can try—from printable stickers and bookmarks to journal kits, party decorations and holiday crafts.
Pick one that sounds fun and start creating.
What Is Cricut Print Then Cut?
Before we get to the ideas, here's the super-simple version.
With Cricut Print Then Cut:
Your printer prints the colorful design.
Your Cricut cuts around it.
Cricut Design Space adds sensor markings to your printed page. Your Cricut scans those markings so it knows where your designs are located, then cuts around them.
It's perfect for colorful Print and Cut crafts that would otherwise require lots of separate pieces and materials.
Now let's make something!

Which Print and Cut Project Should a Beginner Try First?
Don't start with the most complicated idea on this list.
Pick something with just a few pieces.
My favorite beginner projects are:
Printable stickers
Bookmarks
Gift tags
Affirmation cards
Journal pieces
These let you practice the basic Print Then Cut process without requiring complicated assembly.
Once you're comfortable with those, move on to pockets, journal kits, party decorations and more detailed paper crafts.
What Do You Need for Cricut Print Then Cut?
Your exact supplies depend on the project, but you'll generally need:
A Cricut machine that supports Print Then Cut.
A home printer.
Cricut Design Space.
A compatible cutting mat.
Your printable design.
And a printable material such as paper, cardstock, sticker paper or printable vinyl that's appropriate for your project and printer.
You don't need every supply at once.
Start with the project you actually want to make.
Then buy what you need for that project.
Your craft room can become dangerously full all on its own.
Trust me.
What File Type Do You Need for Print Then Cut?
For many colorful Print Then Cut projects, you'll use a PNG.
PNG files can contain full-color artwork and transparent backgrounds, making them especially useful for printable crafting.
SVG files are often used when you need Cricut to cut individual shapes, paths or layers.
A simple beginner shortcut is:
PNG = Think PRINT
SVG = Think CUT
There are exceptions, but that little rule makes Cricut file types much easier to understand when you're starting out.
Don't Be Afraid to Use Premade Printables
You don't have to design everything yourself.
That's the beauty of printable crafting.
Someone else can create the artwork and prepare the printable pieces.
You get to do the fun part.
Print it.
Cut it.
Put it together.
Use it.
Enjoy it.
That's exactly why I love Print and Cut printables.
They bridge the gap between downloading something digital and actually creating something with your hands.
Your Next Print and Cut Project Doesn't Have to Be Complicated
You don't need a complicated 47-piece project to be creative.
Print a bookmark.
Make some stickers.
Create a few journal pieces.
Add cute tags to a gift.
Make a little card for someone.
Start there.
Because once you realize how many things you can create with a printer, a Cricut and a few printable designs...
You're going to start looking at everything differently.
Could I print that?
Could Cricut cut that?
Could I make something with that?
Probably.
And that's when the fun begins.
At Maker Beautiful, we're all about creating printables that give you something to do, make, organize, celebrate or enjoy.
Not printables that sit forgotten in a download folder.
So pick an idea and make something.
